Ed’s Restaurant has been a Calgary landmark since 1984. Originally named Mr. Ed’s, for the talking horse, we pioneered Buffalo, New York style chicken wings in Calgary. Although we’re still best known for our wings, AAA Alberta beef is the new favourite: our signature gourmet burgers, made in-house from freshly ground AAA Alberta sirloin, flame-broiled steaks and prime rib. We also feature pastas, vegetarian items and seafood.

The six dining rooms range from bright large spaces to small intimate rooms, suitable for private parties and business lunch or dinner meetings for as few as ten people. A full range of a/v and presentation equipment is available. Customized menus can be used - just choose four or five entree selections in the desired price range, and we can draw up a menu for your function complete with company name and event

Located in the scenic Port of Vancouver, The Cannery Seafood Restaurant has been a prime lunch and dinner destination for business people, locals and visitors since 1971. The Cannery exemplifies the simple style of a traditional West Coast cannery with a mix of nautical artifacts that complement the breathtaking view of the harbour and North Shore Mountains.

The Cannery offers a wide daily variety of local and imported seafood. Dedicated to the creation of the finest dishes, Executive Chef Wayne Sych blends traditional techniques with the freshest local and exotic ingredients. This, when combined with exquisite presentation promises a truly memorable dining experience.

The wine list offers an extensive collection of the best of Old World as well as West Coast wineries and has won more than 36 Awards of Excellence.

The Cannery has become a landmark and a restaurant of distinction by setting the standard for the freshest seafood in Vancouver for more than 35 years. The Cannery is only 15 minutes from downtown with ample free parking as well as a boat docking facility. Reservations are recommended.

History

The Cannery Seafood Restaurant opened its doors on August 15 th, 1971. With vision and determination, a small bay in Vancouver’s bustling harbour was transformed into a legendary dining destination. It all began when 46 pilings were driven into the ocean floor to create the foundation of the restaurant you see today.

The Cannery is a simple, traditional building exemplifying the small fish canneries that dotted the west coast inlets of BC. The Cannery Queen gill-netter located at the entrance to the parking lot extends a nautical welcome to guests. The restaurant’s decor has evolved ad hoc, with each new piece finding its place among the others. The decorations include a ship’s boiler, inverted and turned into a circular fireplace beside the downstairs bar. A whale rib sits over a table while crab traps, brailing nets, gill nets, photographs and memorabilia adorn the walls. Old hatch covers from a fishing boat create bar tables and the coil from the fireplace boiler hangs as a chandelier between the Chowder Bar and the main dining room. The bar and wood paneling covering the Cannery walls was rescued from a 100 year old barn on the Fraser River near Ladner.

The Cannery is a place of integrity. Above all, it is a place of comfort, good food and good wine.

The Fish House in Stanley Park

Relax and dine in our Fresh and Casual concept featuring exceptional seafood, freshly shucked oysters, or indulge in our famous Flaming Prawns. Sit back with a micro-brewed beer, glass of wine from our award- winning wine list, or a seasonal specialized martini! For a private event we have three distinctive rooms, 2 which feature patios opening onto the scenic natural beauty of Stanley Park. Whether it is a boutique wedding, corporate party or business meeting, The Fish House is your tranquil oasis in the city!

History

In 1886, the first city council of the burgeoning port city of Vancouver petitioned the Federal Government for the lease of an undeveloped 1000 acre peninsula from Burrard Inlet to English Bay. Prior to that time, the area went through a succession of uses, including Government occupation against possible US invasion and logging.

In 1889, Lord Stanley of Preston, the 6th Governor General of Canada, officially dedicated the park as a public space “To the use and enjoyment of people of all colours, creeds and customs for all time.” Since that time, the park has been leased for $1.00 a year from the Federal Government of Canada and is run by the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation.

In 1929, the popularity of the park motivated the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation to create amenities to accompany the increasing usage of the area. In 1930, this building was erected, known as the Sports Pavilion, and was opened as a club house for use by the local golfers and tennis players. From 1949 to 1974 it was known as the Third Beach Tea Room and from 1974 to 1990 as the Beach House. Since 1990, it has been known as The Fish House in Stanley Park.

Whether motivated by foresight or serendipity, the request of our cities’ founding Fathers ultimately resulted in the creation and preservation of one of the worlds’ most beautiful green spaces and, North America’s third largest urban park.

For 18 years The Fish House in Stanley Park has endeavored to provide the atmosphere, product and service worthy of this beautiful and historically significant park, and we hope you will enjoy your evening with us.
