For more than a quarter century, O’Carroll’s has provided two distinct takes on the Maritime experience in the heart of Halifax’s Historic properties. The comfortably elegant dining room is renowned for its superb seafood, steak, lamb and duck and the smart casual Irish Pub provides live Maritime entertainment nightly, an extensive menu of fresh seafood and upscale pub classics, twenty-two beers on tap and a great selection of wine and scotch. O’Carroll’s occupies the original Imperial Oil Building ~ a City of Halifax Registered Heritage Property built in 1929.
“Among the best places to satisfy seafood cravings” ~ The New York Times

Our Fine Dining Room
The comfortably elegant dining room seats up to 50 guests in a classic ambiance and is open weekdays for lunch and nightly for dinner. Exposed brick, detailed woodwork and plenty of windows set the scene, enhanced by vintage lamps and candlelight. The room is delineated with leaded glass dividing walls rescued from the Capitol Theatre, circa 1930. The fine dining room is known for its fresh seafood, such as the house specialty Lobster Dublin Lawyer, as well as for steak, lamb and a local favourite roast duck with sour cherry anise glaze. White linen, impeccable service and an extensive wine list complete the experience.
Lunch served Monday to Friday 11am to 2pm
Dinner served daily from 5pm

Our Irish Pub
Next door in the upscale Irish pub, dark woodwork, exposed brick and comfortable seating create a smart casual atmosphere that can seat up to 70 people. The pub menu features fresh seafood as well as dressed-up pub classics such as a local Nova Scotia lamb burger served with blue cheese, tzatziki and caramelized onions. The great food is accompanied by local Maritime entertainment every night. Weekend brunch.
Open daily from 11am.

MICHI is the only restaurant in Regina that serves authentic Japanese cuisine prepared by veteran Japanese chefs. We have an extensive menu for lunch, dinner, and take-out. You can choose from a wide selection of sushi, sashimi, tempura, teriyaki meat dishes, donburi, and noodle dishes. For a unique cultural experience and an expertly prepared meal, our friendly staff invites you to visit MICHI soon!History of Michi

MICHI was opened in December of 2003 by co-owners, Toshiji Shinmura and Michihiro Oishi. Shinmura immigrated to Canada from Japan in 1977 and took up residence in Regina. During the years that followed, a few restaurants professing to be Japanese were opened here, but the Japanese community found them to be lacking in authenticity and quality. Shinmura wanted to give the people of Regina a truly authentic Japanese restaurant with high-quality food and at reasonable prices. Meanwhile, his longtime friend in Japan, Mr. Oishi, was seeking an opportunity to invest in a foreign venture. He decided that a Japanese restaurant in the middle of the Canadian Prairies would be ideal, so he and Shinmura struck up a partnership, and MICHI was established. It has become the only restaurant in Regina that serves authentic Japanese cuisine prepared by veteran Japanese chefs.

Our five chefs are from Tokyo and Shizuoka, Japan. Shizuoka Prefecture is on the Pacific coast of Japan where many kinds of fish are available, making it an ideal location for our chefs’ years of training and work experience in traditional Japanese cooking skills.

We prepare our menu items using fresh and high quality ingredients. The seafood served at MICHI comes from Japan through a Japanese company in Vancouver. We also offer a wide selection of wines which have been carefully chosen to complement our cuisine. Our menu features signature combos, monthly lunch specials, and sushi party trays.

Our logo is designed from the Japanese letter “michi” in Mr. Oishi’s name, Michihiro. The meaning is “road” or “way”. The same letter can be pronounced “doe” as in judo (gentle way) and kendo (way of the sword). So you see, MICHI is the way to great sushi!

The food ranges from tastes of Asia, Central and South America, using local ingredients wherever possible. Try the Pad Thai, Churrasco Braziliera, Chicken Mole, Goat Curry or Vietnam-inspired salad wraps that take the whole idea another step into healthy fresh dining choices.

But the added value at Blue Chair Cafe is LIVE MUSIC! Through the past four years, the cafe has garnered a reputation as an excellent listening room with fantastic acoustics and sight lines. Roots and Blues musicians from around the world line up to play in this well-respected music venue. Music is featured on Friday and Saturdays most weeks, with added shows during the week. A full listing is available at our website.

There is plenty of free parking and the location is just a few blocks from Edmonton’s busy south-side hub, Whyte Ave. The restaurant is fully licensed and features an excellent wine list and draft beer from the local Alley Kat Brewery.

Twice awarded Best Bistro in 2004 & 2005 (Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards and Vancouver Sun Awards), Bistro Pastis is as close to Paris without a plane ticket. The menu features classic bistro fare (coq au vin or steak frites for instance) served with a contemporary touch and one of the finest by-the-glass wine lists in Vancouver. Add streams of natural light through the café windows to the warmth of a crackling fireplace in an intimate room presided over by a genuine French Maitre d’ and you have all the ingredients for a memorable meal. Said the Vancouver Magazine judges “John Blakeley is one of the most intuitive restaurateurs in the city…he is Left Bank but right brain – this is smart, cozy cooking at decent prices.”

Located in the scenic Port of Vancouver, The Cannery Seafood Restaurant has been a prime lunch and dinner destination for business people, locals and visitors since 1971. The Cannery exemplifies the simple style of a traditional West Coast cannery with a mix of nautical artifacts that complement the breathtaking view of the harbour and North Shore Mountains.

The Cannery offers a wide daily variety of local and imported seafood. Dedicated to the creation of the finest dishes, Executive Chef Wayne Sych blends traditional techniques with the freshest local and exotic ingredients. This, when combined with exquisite presentation promises a truly memorable dining experience.

The wine list offers an extensive collection of the best of Old World as well as West Coast wineries and has won more than 36 Awards of Excellence.

The Cannery has become a landmark and a restaurant of distinction by setting the standard for the freshest seafood in Vancouver for more than 35 years. The Cannery is only 15 minutes from downtown with ample free parking as well as a boat docking facility. Reservations are recommended.

History

The Cannery Seafood Restaurant opened its doors on August 15 th, 1971. With vision and determination, a small bay in Vancouver’s bustling harbour was transformed into a legendary dining destination. It all began when 46 pilings were driven into the ocean floor to create the foundation of the restaurant you see today.

The Cannery is a simple, traditional building exemplifying the small fish canneries that dotted the west coast inlets of BC. The Cannery Queen gill-netter located at the entrance to the parking lot extends a nautical welcome to guests. The restaurant’s decor has evolved ad hoc, with each new piece finding its place among the others. The decorations include a ship’s boiler, inverted and turned into a circular fireplace beside the downstairs bar. A whale rib sits over a table while crab traps, brailing nets, gill nets, photographs and memorabilia adorn the walls. Old hatch covers from a fishing boat create bar tables and the coil from the fireplace boiler hangs as a chandelier between the Chowder Bar and the main dining room. The bar and wood paneling covering the Cannery walls was rescued from a 100 year old barn on the Fraser River near Ladner.

The Cannery is a place of integrity. Above all, it is a place of comfort, good food and good wine.
